| The National Stadium is the most prominent building at the Bukit Jalil National Sports Complex, with a giant traditional dagger or 'kris' at its entrance. The stadium is a bowl shaped complex boasting three spectator tiers. Designed as a multi-purpose stadium, the venue houses many athletic meets, football matches, opening ceremonies and historical events. The facilities include: 68m by 105m field, 9-laned 400m synthetic track, 9m by 400m synthetic track and 6m by 60m warming up track. The stadium accommodates 100,000 seated spectators with 200 seats for the disabled. The pre-programmed floodlights with metal halide lights provide brightness up to 1,500 flux, and has two coloured video matrix scoreboards: one for information on events and competitors, and the other with a high-tech Cathode Ray Tube for fast action video displays. In this XXI Sea Games 2001, the centre will host the Opening ceremony, the Closing ceremony, most Athletics events. | ||||
